Why would 2FA be useful?
Two Factor Authentication (Known as 2FA) is an additional security measure to protect your account.  This can come in the form of a confirmation email or a text message.  In the case of the Ubisoft Accounts, we use an authenticator app on your smartphone. While logging into your Ubisoft Account, you will be asked to provide a unique code that is randomly generated once every 30 seconds via an application on your phone. What this means is that should someone ever manage to get hold of your account information and try to access your account with it, they will be asked for this code. Without your phone, they’re not going to have it.

How do I activate 2FA?
1) You can activate 2FA by clicking this link or by clicking the "Set Up 2-Step Verification" button in the Uplay PC client under Account Information.

What are Recovery Codes?
Recovery codes are one-time use codes for the 2-Factor Authentication process.  In the case that you do not have access to your phone, and you wish to get back into your account: You can use one of your Recovery Codes in place of the Authenticator code. These codes are only able to be used once. If you need to generate new Recovery Codes, you can disable 2FA and re-enable it to get a new set of six Recovery Codes.
NOTE: Support does not have the ability to view or retrieve your Recovery Codes

How to store Recovery Codes?
Once the Recovery Codes are shown on screen, that is the only time that you can store them properly.  You can print the codes out by selecting Print.
